Western offers new landscape horticulture program

This fall, the Western Technical College La Crosse Campus will begin offering Landscape Horticulture, an associate’s degree program for people interested in pursuing landscaping and related careers.
The two-year program consists of classes such as turf management, landscape design, interiorscaping, and ornamental plant health care. Graduates are prepared for careers as landscape designers, landscape technicians, construction technicians, grounds managers, arborists, or garden center specialists.
The instructor and program head, Pete Bemis, is a licensed landscape architect with extensive experience in the landscape horticulture field. Most recently, Bemis worked as the landscape architect/assistant physical plant director for the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
