Published on Thursday, July 03, 2014
Western Technical College will offer an Entrepreneurship Certificate beginning this fall. The certificate consists of a two class series on entrepreneurship; Entrepreneurship 1-Exploration and Mindset and Entrepreneurship 2-Business Canvas. The courses are designed to engage students with interest in any industry. It provides students with opportunities to investigate, understand, and apply the process of choosing entrepreneurship as a career choice within their field.
“In today’s environment, innovation is the key to success. Whether you’re developing an idea to become a traditional entrepreneur or you are bringing an entrepreneurial mindset into your organization, each moves us forward,” said Josh Gamer, associate dean for Western’s Business Education program. “Western is proud to have over 1,000 graduates go on to start and run their own businesses, and we’re committed to helping the next generation as they pursue their dreams.”
Students will explore the entrepreneurship experience by focusing on the definition of entrepreneurship, recognizing opportunities, business concept development, preliminary feasibility testing, and the completion of the business canvas.
“Being successful as a business owner takes more than just a great idea. Knowing how to manage your finances, market your product/service, and even form your business is essential. Our aim is to provide the essential skills needed and then to connect the entrepreneur with additional resources within our community,” added Gamer.
