Veterans Funding

Western Technical College is approved by the Wisconsin Educational Approval Board for training of qualified veterans under the Veterans Educational Benefits Act (GI Bill), and for the training of eligible dependents of deceased or disabled veterans. More information can be obtained through the Western veterans liaison located in the Welcome Center, or from the local County Veterans Service Officer or the Department of Veterans Affairs (1.888.442.4551) or at www.gibill.va.gov. Training that qualifies under the GI Bill includes post-high school vocational diploma programs and day and evening associate degree programs.

ATTENTION Veterans getting chapter 1607

Effective April 1, 2008, students receiving an education assistance allowance under chapter 1607 (REAP) will be required to verify their enrollment in order to receive payment in the same manner as individuals eligible for benefits under chapters 30 and 1606.

Chapter 1607 recipients will be able to verify their enrollment through the Web Automated Verification of Enrollment (WAVE) system or verify by Interactive Voice Response (IVR) by calling 877.823.2378.

Students receiving benefits under chapter 1607 will be informed of this change in advance of the effective date. Computer-generated letters are scheduled to be released at the end of February and again at the end of March.
