The Early Childhood Education Registered Apprenticeship allows students to earn while they learn. Designed for those already working in childcare centers, this program combines paid, hands-on experience with Early Childhood Education coursework. Apprentices develop real-world skills that directly connect to their coursework and future careers.
Work Description
Educational Assistants support the cognitive, social/emotional, and physical development of children through developmentally appropriate programming and environments under the guidance and supervision of a qualified childcare provider. They develop the skills and knowledge needed to:
- Use developmentally appropriate practices
- Observe and monitor child development
- Provide individualized support
- Facilitate small group activities
Program Structure
Courses in the Registered Apprenticeship (RA) are part of the Early Childhood Education associate degree program. Apprentices take courses while completing their two-year apprenticeship.
- Courses are offered asynchronously online during the fall and spring terms
- Apprentices earn college credit throughout the program, providing a direct pathway to the associate degree for those who choose to continue beyond the apprenticeship.
