Western offers a variety of public safety courses in Law Enforcement, Fire Service, and Emergency Medical Service (EMS) to help departments and personnel develop, improve, or maintain their skills and knowledge in their professions. Offerings range from entry-level academies to specific task- and operation-related certification classes.

In fact, many of our instructors are still active in their respective fields, bringing the most current techniques from across the region and the nation back into the learning environment. Course delivery options are designed to meet the needs of employers and students. Busy college students, employees, parents, and volunteers need classes that are convenient with locations and time offerings that fit within a variety of personal schedules. Western offers classes at both the Sparta Training Facility and La Crosse Campus, and also provides many courses at agency locations. Night and weekend classes, as well as blended online classes, are available.
