Counseling Services

At Western, we care about your mental and emotional well-being. Our Counseling and Case Management team provides short-term support to students facing mental health concerns, life challenges, or crises. We are here to help you handle whatever is making things difficult, so you can stay focused on your goals.

We believe every student can make progress. Our job is to give you the right support when you need it.

Counseling Services/Case Management Support

Our mental health practitioners work with students one-on-one to address a wide range of mental health concerns. We focus on helping you build coping strategies, improve resilience, and gain clarity during difficult times that can affect your academic success.

Common reasons students reach out include:

  • Anxiety, stress, or depression
  • Suicidal thoughts or crisis support
  • Grief and loss
  • Relationship or family conflict
  • Trauma or domestic violence concerns
  • Life transitions, motivation, and identity issues

Sometimes, external factors affect your mental health—like not having enough money, stable housing, food, or access to healthcare. Our case managers help you navigate these challenges by addressing your current mental health concerns and connecting you with campus and community resources.

We can help connect you to:

  • Mental health therapy or psychiatric care
  • Crisis services or safety planning
  • Food, housing, and utility support

Our Approach

We use a strengths-based, holistic model that honors your experiences, culture, and values. Whether you need a one-time conversation or help finding long-term support, we’ll meet you where you are—with compassion and without judgment.
