Basic Jailer Academy

Dates: October 13-November 14, 2025
Time: 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Where: Western Public Safety Training Facility – Sparta

Whether seeking the education to obtain an entry level position as a County Jailer or Correctional Officer in the State of Wisconsin, or are already employed by a County agency, Western’s Basic Jail Academy offers students high-quality training through classroom and scenario-based instruction. 

Professional Communications Instructor Course

Dates: Wednesday-Thursday, January 21-22, 2026
Time: 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Where: Western Public Safety Training Facility – Sparta
Cost: $150.00 per person
Registration Deadline: Friday, January 9, 2026

This 16-hour training program is designed to provide instructor candidates with the opportunity for Wisconsin LESB certification as a Professional Communication Skills LESB instructor. This certification is required for training at the recruit level and/or in-service level when utilizing Wisconsin’s Law Enforcement Standards Board manuals and/or training curriculum. Must have completed the 32-hour CJ-IDC course before attending OR be a currently-certified LESB instructor & have 3-years full-time experience.

Law Enforcement

Dates: Feb 9-June 11, 2026
Time: 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (Fitness at 4:30)
Where: Western Public Safety Training Facility – Sparta
Cost: $6,050.00 per person

The Law Enforcement Academy prepares you for entry-level positions as a law enforcement officer at the municipal and county level. The program is limited to sworn law enforcement officers who are being sponsored by their department and pre-service students who meet all of the requirements.
