Western offers courses in various delivery formats (modalities) so students can choose what works best for their schedules and learning preferences.
- Face-to-face courses take place in a traditional classroom setting with scheduled, in-person meetings.
- Blended and Hybrid courses combine some required in-person class meetings with online coursework completed outside of class.
- Computer conferencing courses meet online at scheduled times using web-based technology, allowing students and instructors to interact in real time in a virtual classroom.
- Online courses are taught entirely online and led by an instructor. While students do not meet in person, the course follows a set schedule with instructor‑defined deadlines and is not self‑paced.
Any of the above formats may require the use of technology and internet access to participate in the class or access standard educational technology. Some formats also require audio and video capability.
Western offers assistance to help with the transition to classes in any format. The Learning Commons can walk you through how to use the computer programs/software as well as provide tips for being successful.
Plus, Western is providing free wireless internet service in designated parking lots.
