Filing for the FAFSA

For many, filing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a crucial part of making college more affordable. Whether filing on your own or with the help of a Western staff member, receiving financial assistance can be easier than you think!

Here are two simple ways to file a FAFSA at Western.

Attend a FAFSA Together Event

Students who need additional assistance completing their 2023-2024 FAFSA for Summer 2024 financial aid and/or their 2024-2025 FAFSA for Fall 2024 financial aid can sign up for a time to receive assistance on campus in a group setting. Students are encouraged to have all necessary information available before attending the event. Information includes the following:

  • Student Social Security Number
  • Student FSA ID (if already created)
  • Student (and Spouse) 2021 Federal Tax information or 2021 W2 for the 2023/2024 FAFSA
  • Student (and Spouse) 2022 Federal Tax information or 2022 W2 for the 2024/2025 FAFSA
  • Amount in investments, assets, cash, savings, and checking

Students who are under the age of 24 and do not meet other requirements may need to provide parent information. The following information will also be needed:

  • Parent FSA ID (if already created)
  • Parent Social Security Number
  • Parent 2021 Federal Tax information or 2021 W2 for the 2023/2024 FAFSA
  • Parent 2022 Federal Tax information or 2022 W2 for the 2024/2025 FAFSA
  • Amount for parent’s investment, assets, and amount in cash, savings, and checking
