Purpose

To gain experience and knowledge of working with children in a group setting.

Responsibilities

Assist teachers who work with children, assist in the care of children with teacher direction, clean/wash toys, help in the kitchen for meal prep and cleanup, help in the office (answer phones, file, type, make copies). 

Qualifications

Interest in working with/next to children, ability to talk to children and interact with them. Background check and TB test required.

Clerical/Office Assistant - BIS/LLL

Purpose

To learn office work and gain experience for future employment and assist the Business and Industry staff in their everyday roles and processes.

Responsibilities

Answer phones and assist with inbound customer inquiries and general clerical duties, data entry. Create forms as requested by BIS staff, tabulate BIS evaluations and post to shared drive, create certification of completions for courses and send to customers, update customer database in Goldmine, scan BIS files to Smartsearch and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Telephone and customer service experience, experience in MS Office Suite.

Media Center Assistant - Computer Services - Media Center

Purpose

To assist the staff in running the department smoothly to gain work experience for the future. 

Responsibilities

Answering HelpDesk phone, assisting students with activation and email questions, assisting staff with basic computer problems and application questions, answering general questions from students, staff and public regarding the computers for sale, and other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Experience in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows. Mac experience is helpful. Basic hardware and software knowledge and customer service experience a plus.

Catering Assistant - Food Services

Purpose

To help assist with catering events around campus. 

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve meals, snacks, buffets and any other requirements specified for the event. Prepare and serve hot and cold drinks, clean and clear tables and eating areas when required and make sure that all equipment, dishes, and utensils are cleaned and returned to proper storage areas. Ensure cleanliness of all eating and drinking areas, assist in the food preparation for catered meals and assist in other related duties. 

Qualifications

Must be efficient, dependable and able to carry out instructions independently. A professional demeanor, in addition to strong communication and customer service skills are imperative. A strong understanding of campus programs and operations is extremely valuable.

To assist with several clerical duties for Disability Services. 

Responsibilities

Prepare promotional folders for marketing purposes, create a basic excel spreadsheet, schedule weekly testing rooms for students, copy timecards, file monthly note taker copies, prepare files and organize materials for staff, fax, copy, and other duties as assigned. Learn a basic computer program for converting text files to audio files to make audio textbooks.

Bio-Med Lab Assistant

Purpose

Maintain Bio-Med equipment and lab operations, and process data for biomed program. 

Responsibilities

Cleaning the lab, organizing, lab set-up, lab development, photo copying of assignments and handouts, repair of lab equipment and electronic devices, repair services to medical equipment in other parts of the campus including RT, EMT, CLT and Nursing, data entry or Microsoft office editing, tutor or lead study groups and other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Admitted to the Bio-Med Program preferred, skills with Word forms or Access preferred. Able to move and lift equipment up to 30 lbs.

Tutor - School District of La Crosse

Responsibilities

Serve as a small group leader for students in the after school program, providing oversight and supervision and leading group activities. OR Serve as tutor helping students on skill deficit areas and with homework completion.

Network-Systems Lab Assistant

Purpose

To support the Networking Systems Administration program with equipment maintenance and lab testing.

Responsibilities

Maintain and organize labs when needed, support the instructors with equipment maintenance in B21, B215, B216 and B217. Will also troubleshoot errors in existing labs and prototype new technologies for future labs as needed.

Qualifications

Must be a student in the Network Systems Administration program. Will be skilled in configuring and setting up Cisco Packet Tracer and physical networking equipment such as routers and switches. Student will be practiced in Windows Server OSs, Windows Workstation Oss, VMware, and Linux. Must be able to take direction, work independently, be self-motivated and demonstrate critical thinking abilities to independently solve problems.

Peer Tutor/Office Support

Purpose

To assist students in better understanding course material and support the Administrative Assistant with general office tasks.

Responsibilities

Assist students in learning/understanding content in Microsoft Office and Blackboard, keep a log of session, and check in with tutor coordinator at least once a month. Provide basic office support (e.g., filing, copying). Greet students as they arrive to the Learning Commons and provide support in signing in and out via the tracking system software. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Need teacher referral or documented knowledge of material to tutor. Tutor training will be provided. Confidentiality, patience and openness. Flexible schedule.Tutoring fields in need: Computers and Microsoft Office.
